We’ve had a fairly leisurely day, working on a variety of projects; beginning to get the Christmas decor down, among other things, enjoying time together viewing movies, and just basking in being home together. The evening meal was a special treat: a very crunchy & tasty green salad, seared brussels sprouts, herb bread, ravioli with marinara sauce.
A few years ago we had a very productive garden in our back yard and that is when I found out that Jonathan likes Brussels Sprouts just as much as I do, his Dad is not at all fond of them and I tend to prepare food that is more pleasing to his tastes. Today I prepared some fresh ones that I found in our Farmer’s Market downtown this weekend. I’ve made it a point to eat a lot more fresh veggies and have been tasting for a fresh green salad today, hence the delectable delight with today’s meal. The ravioli was not homemade, but on a great sale the last time I shopped for groceries, and I really think everyone was really looking forward to this dish. Also, I make my marinara sauce, again, not from scratch, however adding some seasonings make them a bit more unique to our tastes. At the bakery in one of our local grocer’s fresh baked goods section I saw a new kind of bread: Italian Herb & Garlic, braided bread too. Since we’re, today anyway, experiencing higher temps than usual at this time of year, I decidecd just to slice the bread and toast in the toaster/convection oven rather than heat up the kitchen more than I had to.
Sitting at the table, ‘turning thanks’ as many refer to the prayer of blessing, enjoying delectable foods, and most importantly enjoying conversation whirelationship together.
